We know the general guidelines of the destruction and rescue of artistic heritage during the Spanish Civil War. The rescue casuistry is diverse: hidden art, disassembled art, displaced art, exhibited art. The case of the Cross of Vilabertran is well documented here, clarifying the inaccuracies and fog that surrounded it and offering a very reliable chronology of the Vilabertran-Vilabertran itinerary, passing through Figueres, Olot, Paris and Girona. Some aspects of the personal intervention of the rector, the mayor and other authorities are also clarified. The finding of new documentation has made it possible to better answer all the issues that affected the rescue and itinerary of the True Cross of Vilabertran.
