Maria Teresa , 1940- Ferrer i Mallol
The object of this article is to study the last apportionment of lands made in Oriola, as a result of the Christian conquest and repopulation of that territory. This apportionment was made during the reign of James II, between 1300 and 1314, and it was managed by the Town Council. A large amount of lands -many of them situated in very hilly and unirrigated areas- were apportionned among knights and soldiers. The article deals also with the confiscation and new apportionment of lands made during the War against Castile (1296-1304), that was when James II occupped that territory.
