La despoblación del Duero: un tema a debate

In the present work some of the arguments used by Sánchez-Albornoz to support his thesis regarding the Depopulation of the valley of the Duero have been analised, attempting to reveal the incomplete character, when not distorting, of the interpretation given to some parts of the chronics. It is also challenged the sense and the consequences of the process of repopulation carried out by the Astur-leonese society during the XI and X centuries, attempting to offer a different vision to the presented by the great historian with regard to the demographic, economical and social frame in which such repopulation was undertaken.
