Thanks to a few documents included in the most ancient book from the public notary of Monells (Baix Empordà), the circumstances in which a glass furnace was built in
1304 in the parish of Santa Pellaia, 10 km far from Girona, can be known. The texts also provide some indications about its characteristics, so that, in this article, they have been related to the previous knowledges about the spread of rural industry of glass in the north-east of medieval Catalonia.
