August of 1391 the Jewish community in Barcelona was attacked and most of its members converted to Christianity. This meant the end of Barcelona’s Jewish Aljama, but not the end of the debts owed to their creditors. To collect these debts, the monarchy created a special commission for forcing all converts and Jews of Barcelona to pay these debts. This article reveals how it worked this commission and his organization.
