In this paper we rewiew the references and presence of Carex bicolor All. in the Pyrenees. Also, we caracterisise the phytocoenological status of this plant on the basis of the studies from the populations in the Ordesa & Monte Perdido National
Park (Spain) and the Pyrenees National Park (France). The presence of the Caricion maritimae alliance in the Pyrenees is confirmed. In this alliance we describe a new community, Leontodonto duboisii-Caricetum bicoloris ass. nov. Moreover the syntaxonomical position of Pinguiculo grandiflorae-Caricetum frigidae is discussed. Finally we describe a new subassociation within the calcicolous snow bed plant communities (Arabidion coeruleae), Carici parviflorae-Salicetum retusae caricetosum bicoloris subass. nov.
