Identitarian Localism in Spanish 21st-century Poetry: New Semiotic Approaches to (Neo)rural Space

Main Article Content

Jorge Arroita

This article considers the emergence and specific traits of certain literary texts produced since the second decade of the 21st century and inscribed within the lyrical trend of neo-ruralism and suggests that they can be more accurately described as identitarian localism. This trend, in contrast with other types of neo-ruralism, develops a transcendental aestheticization of the rural environment and a defence of the roots of collective identity, localism and anti-globalist decelerationism. The article offers a practical breakdown of the trend by analysing the collections of poems Autobús de Fermoselle, Oración en el huerto and Cantar qué together with some ideas from contemporary realist philosophy.
