This article deals with the frictions between medievalism, comparative literature and world literature, to show the relevance of approaching ancient texts from a perspective that foregrounds the dialogue between different yet complementary ways of seeing and doing. To this purpose, the paper examines the circulation, translation and re-semantization of certain Ovidian works by some literatures and arts of the European Middle Ages as an instance of such a dialogue.
