Over the last years, infancy has become a topic of particular interest in critical and theoretical studies of literature. However, little has been inquired about the different ways in which infancy emerges in narrative, and about infancy as a problem. The article reviews some theoretical approaches to these issues in order to: a) determinate a possible categorical definition of infancy in narrative, b) discuss its literary specificity, and c) enable questions about the narrative work of infancy fictions in terms of the political dimension to each story
