In this article I propose an analysis of the video-essay La memoria interior (2002) by María Ruido, focusing on the representation of travel and the places of memory from the perspective of the descendants of the migrants during Spain’s developmentalism in the 1960s. For that purpose, I take into account theories about the travelogue and the road movie, recent studies on migrant and diaspora cinema, as well as contributions from the the social sciences and humanities on travel and mobility. Moreover, I examine the audiovisual strategies employed by Ruido to confront spaces of memory to both monumental spaces and the abstract space of the global city.
