External morphology of the egg of Pachetra sagittigera Hfn., 1766, with scanning electron
microscope (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
The egg is spheroidal (0.8 x 0.5 mm). The apical region, composed of the primary, secondary and tertiary cells, is depressed. Within this cavity, the 14 primary cells of the micropylar rosette are elevated dome-like. The rest of the chorion surface is structured in polygonal plats, called columnar cells.
