Enric Juliana ha escrito un libro de historia. El libro se centra en la vida de Manuel Moreno Mauricio, militante comunista a quien conoció y admiró. La trayectoria de Manuel Moreno sirve a Juliana de eje narrativo para ir articulando planos de la historia de España, con referencias constantes al contexto internacional. De fondo, varias tesis del autor: el impacto del desarrollismo franquista en la configuración histórica de este país, la difícil adaptación de la lucha antifranquista a sus efectos y el encaje más o menos equilibrado que, a su entender, se produjo en la transición entre ambas realidades para generar un bienestar hoy en peligro.
