The international debate on real estate financialization has focused on cities located in “developed” economies. Researchers have found an increasing penetration of financial logics in the production of the city and an expansion of financial innovations on real estate financing. This work aims to discuss with this literature in order to place the Argentine case in perspective through certain indicators, while briefly retrieve the current state of the art. The central hypothesis is that Argentina followed a trajectory of relative disconnection of the international financial system between 2002 and 2015, with consequences in the urban production, which must be nevertheless understood within the framework of a global process of unequal variegated financialization.
