The purpose of this paper is to present the work being done by the Technology Research Center CITCEA-UPC within the Pôle Goundi project. The main goal of the project is the social and economic improvement in Goundi, a small village at the south of the Republic of Chad. In order to do so, a small gasification
power plant of 20 kW will be installed, which will work on corn-cobs. The whole system will be operated and maintained by the local population with the maximum autonomy in terms of raw material and repairs. This paper also
analyzes the possibility that in the near future, other power generation technologies to foster the development of the Chadian population can be included.
