This article transcribes Mr Joan Vallmitjana’s on board diary during his boat trip to Montevideo, back and forth from Torredembarra, from June to September 1886. The transcription is accompanied by a biographical study of Vallmitjana and his family, as well as a research on the ships on which he embarks and the places and events he describes during his stops at the ports and cities he visits.
