Recent studies have identified the Iberian oppidum of Iliturgi and evidence for a siege of this site during the Second Punic War. We analyse here building complex 33 of the site of Venta del Llano, located close to Iliturgi. This highly interesting structure is evidence for the existence of rural occu¬pation during the 2nd-1st centuries BC, a context that is marked by the consequences of that conflict. Analysis of the landscape, the material culture and the earth-construction techniques (through FTIR and petrography) provide evidence of basic aspects of the life of these domestic groups during the Roman conquest.
