The republican victory of April 14, 1931 led to the hegemony in Catalonia of republicanism that could articulate control over the new Generalitat and over Barcelona City Council to build a new capital for an emerging country. In a few years, during the republican hiatus of 1931-1939, Barcelona underwent extraordinary urban, social and cultural changes. The article proposes a journey through the materiality that has survived us from the emerging Barcelona of the 1930s. The route includes places of political significance, spaces that were significant from a cultural point of view, elements that responded to the social interest of the moment, urban enclaves, spaces of war. All in all, a relevant heritage that still typifies the character of the City.
