Las puertas del campo : censura y coacción informativa durante la transición, reflejadas en el humor gráfico de la prensa diaria (1974-1977)

This paper, Censorship and coercion of information during the transition to democracy revealed in political cartoons in the daily press (1974-1977), studies the image created by cartoons of coercive legislation on the media throughout the Spanish transition to democracy. It examines five political cartoons published by five national newspapers between February 1974, when failure of the last attempt to reform the Franco regime was announced, and June 1977, when Spain’s first democratic elections since 1936 were celebrated. The critical perspective that the cartoons provided on the lack of freedom of expression is analysed, as well as the consequences the censorship itself had on the cartoons.
