En aquest treball presentem i analitzem les traduccions inèdites que Josep Brunet i Bellet va fer el 1904 de sis de les cartes recuperades a l’arxiu de la ciutat d’el-Amarna (EA 39, 116, 158, 280, 289 i 290). Es tracta de les primeres traduccions al català conegudes d’aquells textos, i permeten reconstruir el panorama intel·lectual de l’època, dominat per la creença que aquelles cartes havien d’ajudar a confirmar la veracitat històrica d’alguns dels relats de l’Antic Testament.
